Jonah is 17 days old today and is doing well. Vanessa and I think his sleep patterns are changing for the better because he only woke us up three times last night. His feedings were quite a bit longer than normal which meant he slept for almost three hours between them. Hopefully he continues to improve, but if there's one thing we've learned about him it is that he has his ups and downs. Two days ago Jonah decided to have a marathon crying fit; he was inconsolable for about 4 hours straight.
Vanessa and I are getting more and more comfortable with his marathon fussy periods. We now realize that he isn't in pain and there's nothing wrong with him; he simply needs to be fussy for a while. We would certainly prefer that he wasn't crying, but it seems much more manageable now as compared to a week ago. Fortunately for us, Jonah spends most of his time sleeping soundly.
Jonah has started to become more active during his wakeful periods. We call him our little "wiggle worm" because he loves to move around and flail his arms. He is also likes to make all sorts of funny faces. He is certainly more entertaining that anything on TV!
Every once in a while Jonah tries out his smile. It is amazing how happy seeing something as simple as a smile can make me feel. Vanessa and I feel overwhelmed at times, but Jonah's smile always calms us down.

I remember so well the little tongue flapping up and down as he's screaming. I'm happy to hear that he's sleeping better which allows you more sleep as well and that you're better able to handle the fussy times.
Love the smiles! Can't get enough of those. Keep the pictures coming. I'm watching for them every day. :)

I love the picture of Jonah crying - he looks like a little elf! He sure has changed in the past 17 days, and I imagine so have his parents. Jonah is getting cuter and cuter.
That counts as a big smile to us. I know the books saaaaaaay that it doesn't happen until a certain date. Ha, you may have a genius, or the books may be wrong!!!! It is fun watching you two going through all the angst we did when Hannah was born. You are awesome parents, keep it up!!! The Webbers
Wow - what a range of expressions! Jonah is like your own living, little fireworks show, isn't he?

Jackson just got out of his fussy period now at 8 weeks old. I cut dairy and chocolate out of my diet and it helped alot. Oh this advice is only good if you are still breastfeeding or want to loose weight. By the way very cute baby. Katy Mc
