Grandparents Galore

A couple of weeks ago we were blessed to have not one, not two, but THREE grandparents out to visit. It was such a fun opportunity to see my mom and Andrews parents. We have not gotten to see them since our visit to Fresno in June and won't see them again until Christmas. We welcomed their visits, short as they were, to break up that long span between visits home. We didn't get nearly as many photos as we would have liked, but they weren't really "photo opp" kinds of visits. More like doing-everyday-things kinds of visits. (We actually got NO photos with Nana and Papa....they will have to share the photos they got with us!)

When my mom came, we were there to greet her at the airport. Since it was a game day, we were of course decked out in Hawkeye gear. (We are good Iowans, ya know!) Mom had grand visions of Jonah running to greet her at the airport but he was a little more reserved than that. It didn't take long to warm up to her though and by the end of the car ride home he was giggling up a storm with her.

Trying to make Gramma laugh became Jonah's number one goal during her visit. Anything that elicited a response from her was repeated over and over again. He would do whatever it was that had made her laugh before (throwing something down, for example) and them immediately look at her and laugh at the action himself. You simply could not help but join in. Here he is trying to make her laugh while eating breakfast out at Hamburg Inn.

On her last day here we took a walk in the neighborhood by our house. It was on this walk that she taught him to smell the flowers. He would pick them, inspect them, and then "sniff" them. It was one of the simple, sweet, everyday moments that we don't get to spend together very often but in the end we miss the most.

So fun. I sure miss him. Can't wait to hold him again in December. Love how he's studying the flower. :)

What a wonderful lesson to learn...stop and smell the roses!

That's a lot of hawkeye garb- How's it going to play out this weekend? Erin's heading down for the game.
