Gramma Arrives

What a weekend we have had! My mom arrived for a visit this past Saturday. Though she came for nothing more than a little time with her new grand baby, we wanted to do more than just sit around the house while she was here. Boy did we ever! (More blogs to come...) We did just as much as a 4 month old would allow. We started off her trip with a drive through Palisades Kempler State Park.

Rather than taking the interstate back to our house, we took a road less traveled and went to see the changing fall colors at the park. We first drove through it when Andrew's parents were here a few weeks ago and thought that it would be a nice little detour while Mom was out here. While she hardly noticed the scenery (staring intently at Jonah can block out the rest of the world) it was a nice way to spend the time anyway. Apparently a lot of people thought that it would be as good of day to take pictures as we did because everywhere you turned there were people with cameras. Couples taking engagement photos. Parents taking photos of their kids for holiday cards. People just trying to capture the colors of the season. We were happy to be able to get some sweet photos of Jonah and his doting Gramma.

We were also able to take advantage of the golden backdrop for some generational photos.

Jonah loves to explore his surroundings, and this was a great setting for that. We set him down to look at the leaves, but then he couldn't be bothered to look at the camera. We left him sitting there just long enough for a shot or two; then the leaves started to head towards his mouth and a spider started to crawl on him. We were done with that!!

Jonah is nothing if not strong, and he has gotten to where he loves having us help him stand. He actually prefers it to sitting. We obliged him and let him have the feeling as if he were taking a little stroll through the forest himself.

Soon after that he ran out of steam and Gramma got to see his grumpy face again, close up. It is so hard not to laugh at his drama sometimes.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the grumpy face. I know exactly how you feel, Cuz. Sometimes, those grown-ups just don't get it!

That picture of Jonah and his grumpy face with Gramma is just toooooo cute. So glad Kimberly got a chance to spend time with Jonah. He is growing up way too fast. I love you Jonah-Man.

I know I said this before, but he is looking more and more like Drew - especially in the picture of him "walking". He's just too cute!
